Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Scholarship (For Sports Person Only)

Overview

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, was an Indian ruler and a member of the Bhonsle Marathaclan. He initially served as the Jagirdar of Pune after 1664 succeeding his father Shahaji. Eventually, Shivaji Maharaj carved outh is own independent kingdom from the declining Adilshahi sultanate of Bijapur which formed the genesis of the Maratha Empire. In 1674, he was formally crowned the Chhatrapati of his realmat Raigad Fort.

Over the course of his life, Shivaji Maharaj engaged in both alliances and hostilities with the Mughal Empire, the Sultanate of Golkonda, Sultanate of Bijapur and the European colonial powers. Shivaji Maharaj established a competent and progressive civil rule with well-structured administrative organisations. The details of this scholarship as follows : The candidate should be a University/state-level sports person. This scholarship will be of 25% of the two years Academic Fees. The candidates should have scored min 60% marks at the Graduation examination.

a) Scholarship worth 50% of the Programme Fee

B11: Zonal Inter University Games Participation (Olympic, Asian, Commonwealth & World University games) (MAKA Trophy Games)

B12: Senior State (First three Positions)

B13: Junior State (First three Positions)

B14: State School Games, organised by state government (First three Positions)

The candidates should have scored minimum 60% marks at the Graduation examination

C Grade

a) Scholarship worth 25% of the Programme Fee

C11: Senior State/ Junior State/State participation

C12: Senior district (First Three position)

C13: Junior District (First Three position)

C14: District School Games, organised by state government (First Three position)

C15: Open Tournaments (Non-MAKA Trophy Games)

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must apply through Sri Balaji University, Pune’s online/offline Scholarship Process.

The candidate must clear SBUP’s selection process (GD, PI and Essay).

Eligible students may apply for one or more scholarships separately on the links provided on SBUP website before the stipulated date and time.

If the candidate is eligible, he/she will be awarded only one scholarship for which he / she is eligible.

If the student was awarded the scholarship in First year in such case to continue the scholarship in Second year then he / she must have fulfilled the following criteria; i) Must have passed with minimum 70 % marks in earlier year. ii) Should not have any backlog in Internal as well as external subjects. iii) Should have minimum 80 % LHR in the earlier semesters/year. iv) Should not have his / her name in the ‘Red List’. v) Any student who is found with indisciplined behavior in earlier year/semester shall be disqualified.

As per the conditions mentioned above in Point No. 5, the students who are fulfilling these conditions are eligible for getting second year scholarship. The Director of the respective Institute, will scrutinize and verify the eligibility of those students (mentioned under point No. 5) and send the list of eligible students to the Registrar’s Office for further process by 25th June.

As mentioned in ‘Sant Janabai Scholarship’ Point No. C, the Director of the respective Institute will scrutinize and verify the eligibility of those students and will send the list of eligible students by 25th June to the Registrar’s Office for consideration of 100% scholarship to them in first year.

The First Year student who awarded Dr. P.C. Shejwalkar Scholarship (For EWS student), to continue the scholarship in the second year; he /she must have passed minimum 70% marks in earlier year and should submit the valid EWS certificate in their institute in Sthe econd Year also. Basic Eligibility Criteria No. 5 ii), iii), iv) and v) will remain applicable. The Institutes will verify the EWS certificate and will prepare the eligible students list and send to the Registrar’s Office for further process by 25th June.

The scholarship is recommended to each student for the Batch 2025-2027.

If any student who has been granted the scholarship cancels the admission or discontinues the program in subsequent year, the scholarship amount shall be recovered.

Selection Process

A committee comprising of University officials headed by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SBUP will  nominate the eligible students for this scholarship on the basis of following conditions:

International Sports Competitions are approved by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports/ SAI/ IOA/ FISU.IOA/ National Federation of Concerned Games approved by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports/ Association of Indian Universities/ School Games Federation of India

Sport Certificates played at junior college onwards will be considered.  And This scholarship will be applicable only on the basis of last two years achievements.
